The collection contains letters about negotiations with France for the purchase of Louisiana; and a report by Seth Hunt on a petition of Canadian merchants protesting their expulsion from Louisiana. Correspondents include Joel Barlow, Joseph Jones, and Robert R. Livingston. Also, includes a note from the British minister in which he remits a copy of Wellesley's dispatch, and the dispatch recommending making Louisiana a limited monarchy.
